George Lakoff on Sarah Palin: "She is inexperienced, knowing little or nothing about foreign policy or national issues; she is really an anti-feminist, wanting the government to enter women's lives to block abortion, but not wanting the government to guarantee equal pay for equal work, or provide adequate child health coverage, or child care, or early childhood education; she shills for the oil and gas industry on drilling; she denies the scientific truths of global warming and evolution; she misuses her political authority; she opposes sex education and her daughter is pregnant; and, rather than being a maverick, she is on the whole a radical right-wing ideologue."

minnesota police state

Police raids on GOP protesters in Minneapolis.  Free speech is now a crime in America!  "Protesters here in Minneapolis have been targeted by a series of highly intimidating, sweeping police raids across the city, involving teams of 25-30 officers in riot gear, with semi-automatic weapons drawn, entering homes of those suspected of planning protests, handcuffing and forcing them to lay on the floor, while law enforcement officers searched the homes, seizing computers, journals, and political pamphlets."  Videos.  (Thanks to Mike in Miami Beach.)

Jack Abramoff's teaching a prison class called "Parenting from a Distance."  I'm not kidding.  Meanwhile his pals in high places want him out of jail soon.  On the other hand Gus Boulis, the man whom Abramoff and partner  Adam Kidan swindled out of his Sun Cruz Casino business was gunned-down on a Fort Lauderdale street by mobsters who were paid with checks from Kidan.  No charges filed against Abramoff and Kidan. It's good to have Republican friends in the right places.
